Urban Terror is a realism based total conversion mod for Quake III Arena which no longer requires this game to be played. It only uses its engine, which is open sourced through the GPL and may be distributed freely.
Urban Terror plays in about the same setting as Counter Strike, but is less focused on realism and plays much faster, which among other things, is caused by the ability to strafe jump, which combined with wall jumping can lead to very quick movement and nice jumps. Urban Terror has 7 game modes, 25 maps and 15 weapons.

War Rock is free to play! All players have access to the basic features of the game, including frequent content patches and the ability to rank up and unlock new weapons.
Equip yourself from a wide array of weapons and field gear, and fight on foot or take the battle to the enemy in armored vehicles ranging from Blackhawk choppers and K1 tanks to F15 Eagles. Engage bogies across all elements – land, air, and sea!
Enlist with the NIU rebels or the Derbaran Military, and select a branch of service: Engineer, Medic, Assault, Sniper, or Heavy Trooper. Warsow is a free standalone first person shooter game for Windows and Linux. It is based on the Qfusion 3D engine (a modification of the Quake 2 GPL engine), and aimed on the competitive scene, or the e-sports community.
Warsow is developped under the motto "by gamers for gamers" by a team coming from all kinds of gaming backgrounds. To attain the "by gamers for gamers" spirit, the community are our betatesters, both through internal testing sessions (with community members) and in the feedback on the public releases. The base gameplay is focused around the art of movement, meaning moving, speed and tricks play a big part in the gameplay. Besides this, mapcontrol, aim, teamplay and fragging skills play their role too. For the movement we've basicly looked at four games: Quakeworld (legendary for it's speed), Quake3 CPMA, Jet Set Radio and Speedball.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a free, stand-alone, downloadable multiplayer game in which players wage war as Axis or Allies in team-based combat. It's a team game; you will win or fall along with your comrades. The only way to complete the objectives that lead to victory is by cooperation, with each player covering their teammates and using their class special abilities in concert with the others.
Featuring multiplayer support for up to 32 players, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is the ultimate test of communication and teamwork on the battlefield. Players join the fray as one of five distinct character classes each with unique combat abilities. The Covert Ops can steal the uniforms of fallen enemies and perform covert reconnaissance behind enemy lines, while Engineers can plant and diffuse land mines as well as construct battlefield structures including bridges, guard towers and forward operations bases in the midst of combat to gain advantages for their team. Medics provide health and revive fallen teammates, as Field Ops use their binoculars to mark enemy positions for a Soldier's mortar barrage. Each Axis or Allies team can divide itself into smaller fire teams for quick and easy communication using an intuitive messaging system and dynamic command map of the entire battlefield.
